Rachael and Torben’s Quadrathlon Details

In light of the mention made of Rachael and Torben’s entry and training for the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon in the reports of the Hartington Hall trip (see below), it seems like an appropriate moment to post a reminder of what they are attempting. Please consider sponsoring them – it might be just the incentive required for that last burst of speed! (Ed. – M-L)

Rachael wrote, back in February:

Torben and I had a crazy new year moment and decided to enter as a team of two for the IOG in the Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon which takes place on the 8th July, taking us through some of the most spectacular and historic areas of the Scottish Highlands.

We will start with a cold 0.8 mile (1.35km) swim across Loch Tay, followed by a 15 mile (24km) run/walk over the Ben Lawers ridge across seven munros, then it’s back into Loch Tay for a 7 mile (11km) kayak, and ending with a 34 mile (54km) cycle around the Loch!

The day will be finished off with one last bonus event, an evening of dancing at the celebratory ceilidh.

I have never done anything quite like this before so it is going to be a big challenge, especially the swimming. The training has started already, including the dance practice!

It is still possible for others to enter and join us either as a team of two or as relay team of four.  Alternatively if you would rather just support us by making a donation we would be very grateful.  We need to raise £450 each to be able to take part in the event.

The charities the event is supporting are:

Mercy Corps, an international development charity working in over 40 countries worldwide helping people to turn the crisis of natural disaster, poverty and conflict into opportunities for progress.

Mary’s Meals, an international movement to set up school feeding projects in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education.

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Thank you very much for your support.
