A long weekend in Edale – Thursday 2nd-Monday 6th March

Pictures and captions contributed by Simon

At the beginning of March, 24 IOGers headed off to Edale in the Peak District National Park for the second year in a row – perhaps this hugely popular destination will become an annual event? Accommodation was, once again, in the comfortable twin and double rooms of Nether Ollerbrook Farm Cottages, a mere five minutes walk across meadows to pretty Edale. Nestled beneath Kinder Scout, it is in an area abounding with fabulous walks – as demonstrated by the following pics.

Day One – Up onto Kinderscout via Grindsbrook Clough, on to Kinder Gates and Kinder Downfall.

Day Two. Bamford Edge and Stanage Edge.

Day Three. Kinderscout north and eastern edge. Ringing Roger, the eastern trig point, Madwoman’s Stones, Crookstone Knoll, Hope Cross.

What with convivial evenings – ably catered for by much appreciated volunteers or in the local pub – a wonderful time was had by all! Many thanks to organiser Sarah.
