Bluebell Walk: Saturday 4th May

Text and pics contributed by Simon.

On a day when much of Ipswich was ringing to chants of “Come on you Blues”, our Saturday walk was occasionally punctuated with “Come on you Bluebells”.

It was time for Sarah’s annual bluebell walk, a few weeks later than normal – would there be any bluebells left?

Nine of us enjoyed a 9.5-mile circular route that took us through Belstead, Old Hall Wood, Newcombe Wood, Tattingstone and Spring Wood.

We stopped for a welcome drink at the Tattingstone White Horse, where many supporters were watching ‘the big game’.

Phones were monitored in the afternoon and we were kept informed of the score as we walked.

I learnt lots of useful new football phrases: apparently “We’d done the double” and we also did something “on the bounce”…?

It was a glorious, sunny day. We got to see some bluebells and Ipswich Town beat Huddersfield.*

Many thanks to everyone that joined us.

* Apparently this is important because Ipswich can now play the big boys next season.
