Sally’s Woodbridge Wander – Saturday 5th November

On Saturday 5th November, around sixteen IOGers assembled at the tennis courts on Woodbridge’s Kingston Field to join Sally on a relaxing stroll of around four miles.

We had a good mix of “Old Hands” and people who have joined the group in recent years, and two new participants also attended. The first part followed the River Deben towards Martlesham Creek. I have done the river walk many times but the stunning views, including the numerous waders and other water birds and the lovely white yachts, never fail to impress.

We then went across to the other side of Ipswich Rd, past the cemetery, and crossed some attractive woodland. Sally then led us through Elmhurst Park and back along the waterfront. When wandering through urban Woodbridge and the lively High Street,
I was once more struck by the genteel character of this historic market town. It prides itself on exclusive little boutiques and shops and cafes, and numerous pubs and restaurants which attract visitors from far afield.

Many of us then went on to The Tea Hut where we were comfortably seated underneath large parasols and enjoyed a warming cuppa and cake. Sincere thanks to Sally for putting this walk on!
