0n 15th July at 6.45pm, a group of IOGers assembled in Marbled White Drive for a variation of a Pinewood amble of just under six miles we did back in May. It marked the fourth walk in a series of six.

We set off westwards, soon plunging into some dark tunnels under both the A14 and A12 before emerging in Copdock countryside, ascending the hill towards remote St Peter’s Church.

Then it was a loop through Copdock village, passing the tranquil cricket ground and tennis club, then out into fields and paddocks, glimpsing some inquisitive alpacas on the way.

The return to Pinewood took us past impressive Tudor Barn and along Belstead Meadows to the serene surroundings of the Belstead Brook Hotel. There, we enjoyed the balmy summer evening, comfortably seated on picnic benches and some of us ordered a late dinner.

After a busy work week It felt like a great start to the weekend. We had a good mix of old hands and people new to the group, and judging from the chatter and laughter behind me people seemed to have a fab time.
