Cycle Maintenance Evening: Tuesday 30th April

On a Tuesday evening at the end of April, myself and a number of other IOG members attended an interesting and entertaining evening of cycle maintenance advice from Steve at Elmy cycles on the edge of Ipswich town centre.

The talk initially focused on the correct way to clean and lubricate appropriate parts of a bicycle to keep it running smoothly and reliably. Whilst some of the information was common sense, I can honestly confess that at least one of Steve’s “things to avoid” is something that I had done in the past and I found myself wishing that I’d had the opportunity to attend a session of this type a couple of decades earlier.

Following the main presentation, Steve was happy to take questions from us all, which gave us an opportunity to tap into the many years of experience Steve has had working on bicycles.

Many thanks to Christina for organising this great evening for the group, which, of course, ended up in the Dove for a debrief with a drink or two.
