Edale Trip: Thursday 25th to Monday 29th April

Pics contributed by Bob, Sally, Helen, Debra, Simon, Lou, Sarah and Johnny.

Twenty-four IOGers descended on Nether Ollerbrook farm cottages in Edale for the third year running. The infamous Kinder Egg walk took place on Friday 26th (there’ll be a separate post about that tomorrow) but the pictures below give an idea of some of the other activities that took place over the weekend.

On Friday, Ian led a group up to Hollins cross…
…and along the famous ridge.
Other walkers took a more leisurely approach…
…and said hello to the locals.
On Saturday, Sarah led a group through woodland…
…to Stanage Edge.
Lou led a group to visit the Broken Road at the foot of Mam Tor.
Some people explored the David Mellor Visitor Centre near Hathersage, which includes a display of the designer’s iconic street furniture.
Simon’s walk on Sunday was up on Kinder Scout.
Despite the occasionally dark skies, we were reasonably lucky with the weather.
There was also a Castleton Highlights walk on Sunday, with a visit to Cave Dale and Winnats Pass…
…as well as a very windy Mam Tor!
Evening meals were either at the cottage (as shown above) or at the Old Nags Head pub in Edale.

Overall, it was a great weekend enjoyed by all participants and Sarah’s hard work in organising the trip was much appreciated.
