Barham Ramble – Friday 9th July

Barham Pits marks the second evening stroll in my series of four and it is one of my favourite short walks in Suffolk. This walk offers so much variety and always offers the chance of spotting otters, king fishers or other exotic wildlife in the River Gipping. This time, I had 22 keen walkers and no dogs.

The pictures of the group were taken on the bridge by the mill, Mill Lane, where we left the path along the River Gipping to proceed uphill and through Baylham, before returning to our starting point. We walked five miles in total, and some people joined me for a drink in the pub garden of the Sorrel Horse Inn – a great way to start the weekend.
