Cycle and Cake: Saturday 28th September

Text and pics contributed by Christina.

The last Saturday in September was a perfect day for a cycle ride; we enjoyed sunshine and blue skies all day and a gentle breeze that felt refreshing when cycling up the inclines.

Johnny and Rachael had already cycled 28 miles at a much faster pace before joining us at St Augustine’s Church at the town end of Bucklesham Road for a relaxing ride to Felixstowe Ferry.

Once we had passed Kirton and Trimley, we took the quiet back route via Gulpher Road and Ferry Road and past a golf course that was bustling with golfers.

It was a scenic route offering great views over the River Deben and Bawdsey Manor.

We then had a coffee and scone stop in the sunny outdoor area of the View Point Café at Landguard Fort.

Big thanks to Johnny for his technical support and to Ian, Rachael and everyone else for their bonhomie and for helping to keep this group with diverse cycling capabilities together. It was a great team effort.
