Sixteen of us (plus one very well behaved dog) enjoyed a ten-mile walk from Dunwich on a sunny but chilly day.

We passed by the remains of the Franciscan friary, the coastguard cottages, and Minsmere nature reserve with a detour to view the artwork in the remains of a chapel in the middle of a field.

The route included a variety of scenery including pebbly beach, sandy heathland and shaded woodland.

The Eels Foot pub in Eastbridge provided a comfortable stop for lunch.

An unexpected topic of conversation arose on Westleton Heath after lunch – apparently gorse flowers smell like coconuts…

The day was finished off with a sociable drink in the beer garden at the Ship pub.
