Goathland Trip: Saturday 9th November

Pics contributed by Simon, Glen, Kate, Tony and Nadia.

Goathland village in the heart of the Yorkshire moors, famous as the filming location for the TV series Heartbeat and Hogsmeade Station in some of the Harry Potter films, was the destination for 17 IOG members on a trip organised by Phil. Beautiful accommodation, great walks in stunning scenery, good company and plenty of food and drink made this a long weekend to remember.

The weather on our first full day wasn’t great but we still had a good time, as the photos below show.

Most of the group accompanied Simon and Sarah on a walk to visit the Hole of Horcum.
They crossed moorland…
…and encountered sheep.
After a detour to visit the pub in Levisham, the route continued lower in the Hole of Horcum, with a climb at the end to get back to the start.
Meanwhile, Alan was living up to his reputation by leading a longer walk in the same area.
Once back in Goathland, some people went to see the sights (on the way to the pub).
A group meal at our accommodation in the evening was a sociable way to round off a good day.
