Teesdale Trip: Wednesday 11th September

The second full day of the trip dawned with slightly less reliable weather than the day before. The group split up to do different activities, with some people visiting Barnard Castle, either on foot or by bus.

Meanwhile, seven of us decided on a 13-mile walk from Romaldkirk to the Hury and Blackton Reservoirs…
…before joining the Pennine Way northwards.
We were caught out by a hail storm at the top of a hill and took shelter behind a wall…
…but the sun was shining again by the time we passed Grassholme Reservoir and made our way up onto Crossthwaite.
A final downhill section brought us to Middleton-in-Teesdale, where a welcome pint awaited us, before the bus whisked us back to Romaldkirk after another good day.
