Easter in Eskdale: Saturday 30th March

Pics contributed by Miriam, Paul, Tony, Christine, Chris, and Simon.

Beautiful and quiet (until we arrived) Eskdale in the Lake District was the location for this year’s IOG Easter trip. A group of 29 IOGers and Poppy the dog arrived on Friday 29th March after the long journey from Suffolk/Wales/Cornwall/Lancashire for a long weekend of walks, cycle rides, train rides, eating, drinking, fun and laughter. The pics below give a flavour of the activities on our first full day…

Glen led a group on the Miterdale Mosey across fells…
…and past tarns.
Steve and Christine cycled to Ravenglass on the coast.
Chris and Anni found refreshment on their circumnavigation of Muncaster Fell.
Simon led a walk up Sca Fell, the second highest peak in England, although it was hidden in cloud as we approached.
We stopped off at Slight Side, another Wainright fell, with a view up to Sca Fell.
We found snow and made a mini IOG snowman!
Blue skies, sunshine and stunning views greeted us at the summit of Sca Fell.
There was scree on the way down.
Our path went down the hill and through the bog at the bottom.
Stepping stones gave us a late afternoon agility test.
We finally descended back into the valley.

The weather was glorious and a good day was had by everyone, whatever their chosen activity. More Easter antics will appear tomorrow…
