There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. I heard this being said on several occasions during Glen’s Nudging Nedging adventure. I’m not going to lie – it rained throughout and it was cold. So what made eight members and a lady who was new to the group decide to drive to Bildeston, knowing full well that it was likely to rain all day and the ground was going to be very muddy and slippery?

Whatever the reason, we managed to have fun on Glen’s walk of around 9 miles. We walked past Naughton Mill, which was formerly Naughton Youth Hostel, the venue for the first trip that the group went on back in 1976.

Some paths were slippery, and we had to cross a couple of bridges and stiles that were treacherous. But there were snowdrops everywhere and some crocuses and daffodils too. We were lucky enough to find a dry spot inside the woodland shelter in Chelsworth for our snack stop, and the porch of Norton Church could seat 10 people and provided a welcome lunch stop.

I believe I speak for those who took part: We enjoyed being out in such lovely countryside and catching up with some fellow walkers. Fortunately, this varied and interesting walk did not get cancelled because of the weather.
